FCC Environment, a leading waste management company, and Podback, a coffee pod recycling program, are joining forces to expand coffee pod recycling at household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) throughout England and Wales.
Following a successful trial at 13 sites in Suffolk and Berkshire, where 14 tonnes of pods were collected in just six months, the program is now rolling out to additional locations in Wigan and Luton.
Podback will equip recycling centres with containers and signage and handle the logistics of transporting used pods to UK-based processors.
Residents can easily participate by saving their used coffee pods, separating their aluminium from plastic and dropping them off at designated containers during their next visit to the recycling centre.
This initiative aims to make recycling more convenient and accessible, with plans to introduce the service to more locations in the near future, helping to boost recycling rates across the country.
